"The assassination of my husband, the assassination attempt on me: the consequences are and will be, I think, permanent

",

summarizes Martine Moïse, whose word has been rare since July 7, 2021. A year after the assassination of Jovenel Moïse, the sponsors and the motive for the crime remain unknown.

73 people are targeted by the judicial inquiry, 43 of them have been charged.

If we know today that the assassination was planned largely outside of Haiti, the investigation of the case in Port-au-Prince is not progressing.

“The simple fact that the judges are obliged each time to resign from the case reflects a malaise and a refusal of the authorities in place to give justice to the president”,

believes the former First Lady who does not despair that one day the light will be made.

"I think that one day - I hope not to have to wait 35 or 40 years - Jovenel Moïse will obtain justice"

, she summarizes.

Asked about the security situation, which has continued to deteriorate over the past year (the UN has put the number of kidnappings at at least 200 in the month of May 2022 alone) and about the lack of political transition at the following the assassination, Martine Moise launched an appeal:

“Let's solve our problems so that, among Haitians, we can live at home, in Haiti, and so that we stop being nomads.

My future is at home, in Haiti”

.
