At around 21:00 on July 6, an elevator in a community in Jinjiang District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province suddenly broke down. 20 people were trapped in the elevator, including 3 children. The situation was urgent.

At the time of the incident, the elevator was going up from the first floor, and a sudden failure caused the elevator to get stuck between the first floor and the negative floor.

A resident of the community who was trapped in the elevator said that there were many people in the elevator, and the weather was hot, and everyone quickly suffered from hypoxia.

After the rescue force arrived at the scene, the elevator stopped between the first floor and the negative floor due to the accident, and the rescue could not be carried out.

At about 22:10, the elevator maintenance personnel arrived at the rescue site and manually lowered the elevator to the negative second floor.

Rescuers quickly opened the elevator door with tools, and the trapped 17 adults and 3 children got out of the elevator safely.
