Even if you can't read the score ...

It was the JY band that gave us a message.

It was named after the initials of Joyo City, Kyoto, which is the base of activities.

The members are eight men and women in their teens to twenties.

The leader is Sentaro Sawa (19).

Sentaro has low vision and intellectual disability, and he cannot read music.

But he doesn't feel handicapped in front of the piano.

He fluently moves the fingers of his hands and makes accurate sounds.

I started playing the piano when I was 11 years old.

He was attracted to the tone of the piano in the blind school and practiced while learning the sound with his ears.

Her favorite song is J-pop.

When I was in special needs school, I formed a band with her teacher and performed.

However, I didn't have any friends of the same generation who enjoyed music together, and I felt that it wasn't enough.

Sentaro graduated from school and is now working at a welfare workshop.

I want to form a band again

I want to form a band again and show off my performance.

Sentaro consulted with his music class.

Word-of-mouth has spread, and people who want to participate have joined the members one by one.

People with visual and intellectual disabilities gathered twice a month and started practicing guitar, drums and piano.

Yumiko Morikawa, representative of the music class

"It's fun to get together on holidays and play the drums and play the guitar with young people. I think it's like this when young people of the same age get together.

" Mr. Sentaro who will serve.

He values "everyone enjoys music".

He devotes himself to accompaniment and supports him so that even members with little musical experience can enjoy playing.

Sentaro

"The level of music varies from person to person, but I just wish I could make music with the members. I enjoy it the most."

Glittering star on the index finger

In the J / Y band, it is also ourselves who decide the songs to play and teach each other how to play.

Official Hige Dandism's "I LOVE ..." Mongol800's

"Small Love Song"

While feeling the joy of playing with friends, we will finish each song one by one.

Sentaro was teaching 16-year-old Itsuki, who has a brain and body disorder.

He is called "Icchan" by everyone.

She joined the circle at the recommendation of her mother, hoping to connect with friends and people outside of the blind school.

I'm not good at the fine movements of her hands.

While practicing percussion instruments with Sentaro and others, she gradually improved.

Now, Icchan is trying to play the piano.

She can now use the index fingers of both hands to play her favorite "glitter star".

Icchan

"I'm tired, playing is fun"

Sentaro "Icchan's

piano has only pins, but it feels good"

Sentaro gently matches the tone of hitting the keyboard with the image of a glittering star. ..

You should be able to fly the first drum sky

Some members have been able to convey their feelings since joining the band.

Mr. Yasutaka (16), who is blind by nature.

Originally he was shy and was not good at talking to people.

He has been playing the piano until now, but when he joined the band, he started to take on new challenges with the drums taught by Sentaro.

It is said that it was the first time to convey his intention to his parents who "want a drum"

.

Yasutaka's mother

"I can talk because I understand it because he expressed it, but I can't talk, so I think that the world has expanded by joining the band. I have created an environment where I can meet various things. There is a proper place for me. I think this was the reason why it became one expression. "

When I asked Mr. Yasutaka about the charm of the drums ...

Mr. Yasutaka

" I can match the sound with everyone. The goal is to play the song well. "

Beyond the scenery I stare at

The day of the concert.

Many people gathered at the venue so that they could stand up.

When the performance started, clapping naturally occurred from the audience.

And the performance of "I LOVE ..."

Sentaro pulls the members while taking the tempo of the whole song on the piano.

In "Small Koi no Uta," where Yasutaka hits the drums, the venue was lively with a light stick judgment.

Members who have achieved the results of their practice.

Eighteen songs were performed at the concert for about one hour, and the venue was filled with applause.

"The piano was wonderful."

"Everyone was singing happily, so it was fun."

Yasutaka's former teacher was also at the venue.

Mr. Yasutaka

's former teacher

"I was impressed. I knew that I was doing music, but I didn't know that I was so good. Don't move so often."

was.

Mr. Yasutaka

"I was nervous, but it was fun to be able to do it together."

Mr. Sentaro

"I'm really glad that the members did so and the customers said it was fun. I hope everyone can make fun music next time. increase"

I LOVE ... the continuation

There are friends who can enjoy music together.

There are no obstacles to enjoying music.

Above all, the facial expressions of the members who played lively were all shining.

The second concert is in September.

With the addition of new members, I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of performance this time.
