High school students, students, workers... In Seine-Maritime, more and more undocumented people are being refused their residence permit despite their integration efforts, according to Cécile Madeline, lawyer specializing in foreigners' rights, who spoke at the microphone of France Bleu Normandie.

This is particularly the case of a medical student, defended by the lawyer, threatened with expulsion.

This Monday, a new mobilization of support bringing together associations and teachers was organized.

A petition to prevent his deportation has already garnered more than 17,000 signatures.

"An absurdity"

Like her, threats of deportation while applications for residence permits are not on the rise, according to the lawyer.

An unprecedented situation specific to Seine-Maritime and which differs from neighboring departments.

"The Eure prefecture strictly respects the circular which allows to regularize an undocumented worker under certain conditions, in Seine-Maritime, it does not work", explains Cécile Madeline.

The lawyer denounced the “absurdity” of the situation, while many sectors, such as catering, lack manpower.
