Lotus flowers, cranes, peacocks, ladies, these candy art works with Chinese elements are from the hand of Wang Changwei, a sugar artist "post-00" in Fengnan District, Tangshan City, Hebei Province.

Wang Changwei, who was born in 2000, loved painting since he was a child. During his studies in secondary vocational colleges, he came into contact with and fell in love with sugar art.

The production principle of modern sugar art is similar to that of traditional sugar blowers. First, the sugar materials are reasonably proportioned, and then the processes such as sugar melting, sugar pulling, sugar blowing, sugar molding, thread hooking and coloring are completed.

According to Wang Changwei, the temperature of sugar is kept at about 60°C, which is the easiest to shape. Therefore, in the production process of sugar art, it is necessary to be attentive, hand-to-hand and eye-to-eye.

Modern sugar art works are highly ornamental and artistic, and are mainly used for decoration and display in high-standard banquets.
