From 2018 to 2021, Shanghai’s movie box office will account for about 5.5% to 6% of the national box office, which is the region with the highest box office proportion among first-tier cities in China, slightly higher than Beijing, and significantly higher than Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

Therefore, the resumption of normal operation of theaters in Shanghai can play a more significant role in promoting the recovery of the domestic film market.

　　According to the "Notice on the Reopening of Film Screening Venues in the City" issued by the Shanghai Film Bureau, Shanghai film screening venues will reopen in an orderly manner from July 8.

Lighthouse data shows that as of July 4, the total number of operating theaters nationwide has reached 10,120, with an operating rate of 83.4%, of which a large area of ​​Shanghai has closed.

　　"After Shanghai theaters resume work, the nationwide theater operating rate will remain above 90%, and the film industry has officially entered a recovery channel." But this year's situation is not optimistic. Even if the box office of "Jurassic World 3" and "Life Events" has exceeded 900 million yuan, the film shortage is still serious.

　　Top data shows that in July and August, 40 TV shows (including 20 re-screenings) and 8 movies were set, with a predicted box office of 2.472 billion yuan and 2.268 billion yuan respectively.

In the same period last year, the number of films released was 42 and 63 respectively, a year-on-year decrease of 52.38% and 87.3% after excluding re-screening films.
