In the Gard, a town of 2,000 inhabitants has taken a radical decision to try to reduce the risks: until July 31, it is strictly forbidden to smoke in part of the village.
Smoking is prohibited at the football stadium, at the shooting range, at the archery range, in the tennis courts, and in the Pondres and Moulin sectors.
The associations installed in these places must, if they wish, set up a corner for smokers in a place "from which no fire can start", indicates the municipality, in the municipal decree which was published on June 17. last.
In addition, it is forbidden to smoke in vehicles, throughout the village.
Any violation may be punished with a fine of 15 euros, specifies the municipality.
