Nathan Paulin took up the challenge this Friday to cross the Seine in Rouen (Seine-Maritime) in balance, over a length of 640 m.

The tightrope walker achieved this feat by moving at a height of 90 m, for 35 minutes.

He thus intended to mark, in his own way, the inauguration of the river festival, explains France 3 Normandy.

The wire on which the 28-year-old athlete rushed connected the Notre-Dame cathedral to the tower of the archives.

Several thousand spectators massed around the river watched the progress of the tightrope walker.

"It's the best reception I've received," he said.

Acrobatics on the wire

Very comfortable, Nathan Paulin even allowed himself a few acrobatic tricks.

He thus stretched out on his line, performed pirouettes or sat down, letting his legs hang in the air.

The one who did his scales on a wire installed in his parents' garage set a new slackline world record on May 24.
