A reporter asked about the recent inappropriate remarks made by NASA Administrator Nielsen to slander China's normal and reasonable outer space business.
Zhao Lijian first pointed out: "This is not the first time the director of NASA has disregarded the facts and opened up his mouth. Some officials in the United States continue to frame and slander China's normal and reasonable outer space cause. China firmly opposes such irresponsible remarks."
Zhao Lijian said that as the director of the US aerospace department, he should be very aware of the "black history" of the US space program.
The United States plays a negative role in creating space junk, provoking an arms race in outer space, and undermining global strategic stability, posing a huge threat to the peaceful use of outer space.
In recent years, the United States has openly defined outer space as a "combat domain", accelerated the establishment of the Outer Air Force and Outer Space Command, and developed and deployed offensive outer space weapons.
The United States has also long passively resisted the negotiation of legal documents on outer space control, and has continuously strengthened its military cooperation in outer space with its allies.
On the other hand, the United States has set up obstacles in space cooperation, arbitrarily sanctioned space agencies of other countries, and introduced laws to restrict space cooperation and exchanges with China.
The international community has long seen through such domineering behavior, "double standards" and hypocritical remarks by the US.
Zhao Lijian emphasized that China always advocates the peaceful use of outer space, opposes the weaponization and arms race in outer space, and actively promotes the building of a community with a shared future for mankind in outer space.
China's exploration of outer space is to meet the legitimate needs of the country's economy, society, science and technology, and security. The development of China's aerospace industry is entirely achieved through independence and self-reliance, and its rights and achievements cannot be questioned or smeared.
Zhao Lijian finally pointed out that we urge the US official to earnestly assume the responsibilities of a major country, seriously review and correct the negative words and deeds of the US in outer space, and make due contributions to the maintenance of sustained peace and security in outer space.
