The shipment of silk moth cocoons, which are the raw material for raw silk, has begun in Nasushiobara City, Tochigi Prefecture.

In Nasushiobara City, where sericulture was once flourishing, four sericulture farmers are still producing, and on July 1, shipping work for this season began in the Tayuzuka district of the city.

The cocoons to be shipped this time are the highest quality cocoons called "Spring silk moths", which are grown by eating sprouts of morus alba. I checked if there was any.

According to the local JA, the sprout of morus alba eaten by the silk moth was not damaged by the late frost, and a good quality cocoon was produced.

On this day, about 950 kg of cocoons were loaded onto the loading platform of a large truck and shipped to a silk reeling company in Gunma Prefecture.

Kazuo Takeuchi, chairman of the JA Eggplant Sericulture Subcommittee, said, "I was careful about temperature control and raised the silk moths. I'm glad that the cocoons were clean and clean."
