Asao Sano, an actor who played the role of Mitsukuni Mito, the third generation of the popular historical drama "Mito Komon" on television, and was active in movies and television, died on June 28 at his home in Kyoto City due to aging.

He was 96 years old.

Originally from Yokohama, Mr. Sano joined the theater company in 1943 during World War II and began his career as an actor. He has appeared in numerous movies and dramas such as "Ai yori Aoku" and played a wide range of roles.



Since 1993, he has played the role of Mitsukuni Mito, the third generation in the series, in the popular historical drama "Mito Komon" on television, playing a gentle and benevolent role, and was loved by the living room.



In addition, he was a fairy tale reader on NHK Radio's reading program "Story Dekoi", and he was in charge of more than 4000 broadcasts.



According to his agency, Mr. Sano died on June 28th at his home in Kyoto due to senility.



He was 96 years old.
