The upgrade of the traffic light blind clock adds three new "prompt tones"
Yesterday, a reporter from Beijing Youth Daily learned from the Beijing Traffic Management Bureau that in order to ensure the safety of visually impaired people crossing the road and meet their travel needs, Beijing has recently begun to gradually replace the old version of the traffic light blind clock with "version 2.0", which has been upgraded. 256 signal lights and blind clock devices at important intersections in urban areas.
Ma Xiaomeng, a police officer from the Beijing Municipal Traffic Management Bureau's Science and Information Department, introduced that the new blind bell has two voices, one male and the other female, which are used to guide the north-south direction and the east-west direction to cross the road respectively.
There are also 3 kinds of prompt tones and 3 kinds of prompt words in each sound.
The three prompt tones are the "di" sound during the red light, the "tick" sound during the green light, and the "quick tick" sound during the green flashing period when the green light is about to end.
The three prompts are "it's a red light now" during a red light, "it's a green light now, please pass safely" during a green light, and "the green light is about to end, please pass with caution" when the green light is about to end, with three close beeps attached. Ringtone.
When the visually impaired people come to the intersection, they can confirm the status of the signal light at any time, which greatly improves the efficiency of crossing the intersection.
Compared with the previous blind clocks, the new device changed the sound of the previous electronic pulses to the sound of chords.
A reporter from Beiqing Daily found that the tone of the new version of the bell for the blind is slightly different.
The east-west direction is similar to the sound of drums, and the north-south direction is similar to the sound of hitting a wooden stick.
In addition to being softer and more layered in hearing, it also avoids the interference caused by the old version of the blind traffic light sound.
At the same time, the voice intonation, the size of the prompt tone and other aspects are different, and the directional transmission of the sound is also improved.
According to the Beijing traffic management department, with the advancement of the standardization construction project in Beijing this year, the equipment of signal lights and blind clocks at important intersections in 256 urban areas has been upgraded. It is expected that the installation of 496 intersections will be completed by the end of this year.
At the same time, in the future, 450 signal light intersections will continue to be renovated every year, and the installation and use of new blind clock equipment will continue to be gradually promoted.
