“Leonid Aronovich Shvartsman, a legend of animated films, a unique artist and director who gave millions of people kind, funny tales, colorful book illustrations, has passed away,” Mishustin was quoted as saying on the Telegram channel of the Russian government.
Mishustin expressed confidence that the animated films created by Shvartsman would be watched for a long time to come.
The Prime Minister called Shvartsman a kind and outstanding person.
“Please accept my deepest condolences, words of sympathy and support,” he said.
Earlier it became known that Shvartsman died at the age of 101.
