1952. While the colonized peoples still timidly demand the improvement of their conditions, in any case the majority of them will devote their entire lives to fighting for the freedom, autonomy and unity of Cameroon.

Less popular than the Ghanaian Kwame Nkrumah or the Guinean Sékou Touré, Ruben Um Nyobe nevertheless remains one of the most important sub-Saharan nationalists.
