What is the story of the “Queen of Digital Currency” .. the only woman on the “FBI” list

The authorities in the United States have included a Bulgarian woman, known as the "Queen of Digital Currency", on the FBI's list of the ten most wanted persons.

US authorities are seeking the arrest of Roja Ignatova, believed to be in her forties, for her alleged role in running a cryptocurrency scam known as OneCoin.

Federal investigators accuse the fugitive woman of using the scheme to seize more than $4 billion from her victims.

In 2014, the scheme started offering to offer a commission to buyers if they sold Winecoin to more people.

But FBI agents say the coin was worthless and was not protected by the "blockchain" technology used with other cryptocurrencies.

According to allegations made by federal prosecutors, it was a cryptocurrency fraud scheme.

"She timed her scheme perfectly, taking advantage of frantic speculation of the early days of cryptocurrency," said Damian Williams, Manhattan's top federal prosecutor.

An office notice posted on Thursday offered a $100,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of Ignatova, who in 2019 was charged with eight counts of electronic fraud and securities fraud, according to the BBC.

Noted as the only woman on the FBI's ten most wanted list, Ignatova was last seen on a flight from Bulgaria to Greece in 2017.
