China News Service, Beijing, July 2 (Reporter Yuan Xiuyue) The first typhoon to land in my country this year is coming?

According to the forecast of the Central Meteorological Observatory, this year's No. 3 typhoon "Siamba" has been strengthened into a severe tropical storm. It is expected to make landfall along the coast from Yangjiang, Guangdong to Wenchang, Hainan during the day on July 2, or become the first typhoon to land in my country this year.

What are the characteristics of Typhoon Siamba?

What impact will it have on South China?

Central Meteorological Observatory Forecast Information

Typhoon "Siamba" approaching the coast of Qiongyue

The name "Siamba" comes from Thailand and means tropical flower.

As of June 30, in the first half of this year, only three typhoons "Malaka", "Catfish" and "Siamba" were generated in the Northwest Pacific Ocean and the South China Sea.

According to statistics from the Typhoon and Marine Meteorological Prediction Center of the National Meteorological Center, there were 4.6 typhoons generated in the same period of history (1949 to 2021), and the number of typhoons generated in the first half of this year was less than 1.6.

According to the forecast of the Central Meteorological Observatory, on the night of June 30, this year's No. 3 typhoon "Siamba" has intensified into a severe tropical storm.

At 21:10 on July 1, typhoon "Siamba" was located on the sea about 315 kilometers southeast of Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province.

It is expected that "Siamba" will move to the northwest at a speed of about 15 kilometers per hour, and the intensity will gradually increase. It made landfall in the coastal area from Yangjiang, Guangdong to Wenchang, Hainan during the day and day, and the maximum possible landing area was from Wuchuan, Guangdong to Xuwen (typhoon level or strong tropical storm level, 11-12 level, 30-35 m/s).

At 11:30 on July 1, the China Meteorological Administration has upgraded the typhoon level three emergency response.

At 18:00 on July 1, the Central Meteorological Observatory continued to issue an orange typhoon warning, the Ministry of Water Resources and the China Meteorological Administration jointly issued a yellow flash flood disaster meteorological warning, and the Ministry of Natural Resources and the China Meteorological Administration jointly issued a geological disaster meteorological risk warning.

As of 8:38 on July 1, a total of 51 typhoon warning signals were in effect in Guangdong Province.

On the morning of July 1, the Hainan Provincial Ocean Forecasting Station issued a wave level III warning (yellow) and a storm surge level IV warning (blue).

Typhoon "Siamba"

lasts for a long time, and the impact of wind and rain is great

According to Qian Qifeng, chief of the Typhoon and Marine Meteorological Prediction Center of the Central Meteorological Observatory, the landing time of the typhoon at the beginning of this year was slightly later than the same period of the year (June 28).

Qian Qifeng introduced that local typhoons generated in the South China Sea are generally called "earth typhoons".

"Tu typhoon" has its own unique characteristics: asymmetric structure leads to asymmetric distribution of wind and rain under its influence; it is far away from the western Pacific subtropical high, and the guiding airflow is weak, which makes its path changeable and difficult to forecast; it is easy to be related to the monsoon cloud system Combined, it brings prolonged rainfall.

"Siamba" is a typical "earth typhoon". At present, it is characterized by asymmetric structure, slow movement and long impact time.

According to the forecast, after the "Siamba" makes landfall, there may be a phenomenon of gyration and less movement, which will bring long-term wind and rain effects to southern China.

In addition, there is still a low pressure developing on the ocean east of the Philippines, which may form a double typhoon effect with the formation of "Siamba", and there is still some uncertainty in the later evolution of the typhoon.

According to the forecast of the Central Meteorological Observatory, at 11:00 am on July 1, this year's No. 4 typhoon "Avery" was formed (tropical storm level, level 8, 18 m/s). Wind and rain effects.

Central Meteorological Observatory Forecast Information

In terms of precipitation forecast: from 20:00 on July 1 to 20:00 on July 2, there will be heavy to heavy rain in most of Guangdong, southeastern Guangxi, Hainan Island, and southeastern Fujian. Heavy rainstorms. There are local heavy rainstorms (250-300 mm) along the coasts of southern and western Guangdong and northern Hainan Island.

The concentrated periods of heavy rainfall are: Hainan Island from the 1st to the 2nd, Guangdong from the 1st to the 3rd, and Guangxi from the night of the 2nd to the 6th.

Central Meteorological Observatory Forecast Information

In terms of meteorological disaster risk forecasting, from the 1st to the 4th, the meteorological risk of geological disasters occurred locally in the southeast of Guangxi, the central part of Hainan Island, and the eastern and southern parts of Guangxi. High; the meteorological risk of local flash floods and small and medium-sized river floods is high in southern and western Guangdong, central Hainan Island, and southern Guangxi; the risk of flooding is high in central and western Guangdong, northern Hainan Island, and central and eastern Guangxi.

Central Meteorological Observatory Forecast Information

According to the forecast of the National Ocean Forecasting Station, due to the influence of the typhoon, it is expected that from noon on July 1 to noon on the 2nd, huge waves of 4 to 6.5 meters will appear in the northern part of the South China Sea to the turbulent wave area, and there will be 3 to 5 meters in the coastal waters of Guangdong. From big waves to huge waves, there will be big waves of 2.5 meters to 3.8 meters in the coastal waters of eastern Hainan.

On July 1, the National Oceanographic Observatory issued an orange wave warning and a yellow storm surge warning.
