Will we soon have to get used to a fourth sorting bin where to throw food waste whose recycling will be mandatory on January 1, 2024?

Syctom, the metropolitan agency for household waste in Paris and the inner suburbs, has in any case already taken the lead.

It will open in 2025 in Gennevilliers (Hauts-de-Seine) a biomethanation site intended to treat and recycle this waste, reports

Les Echos

.

The project is carried out in partnership with the Intercommunal Syndicate for Gas and Electricity in Île-de-France (Sigeif).

Its objective is to transform into biogas and agricultural fertilizer no less than 50,000 tonnes of food waste each year.

43,000 tons of fertilizer per year

This quantity of raw material should make it possible to produce 30,000 MWh of biogas and 43,000 tonnes of fertilizer per year.

Before reaching this point, however, it will be necessary to install the appropriate infrastructure for the specific collection of this waste.

In Gennevilliers, the work in this direction amounts to approximately 53 million euros.
