The Ministry of Justice has notified the Tokyo District Court that it is a breach of duty for seven IT businesses that have not indicated their intention to apply for registration as stipulated by the Companies Act over "foreign companies" that do business in Japan.


This is the first time that the Ministry of Justice has notified the court that a fine should be imposed on a "foreign company" that is not registered.

The Ministry of Justice has registered 48 IT companies that do not seem to comply with the registration obligations stipulated by the Companies Act for "foreign companies" operating in Japan from December last year. We have urged you to apply by issuing a reminder document.



However, the Ministry of Justice notified the Tokyo District Court on June 30 that it was a breach of duty to the seven IT companies that did not show any intention to apply for registration due to the lack of progress in their response.



This is the first time that the Ministry of Justice has notified the court that a fine should be imposed on a "foreign company" that is not registered.



According to the Ministry of Justice, out of the 48 IT companies that have urged applications for registration so far, 10 have completed registration, or the telecommunications business has been abolished and application is no longer required. We are requesting that 31 companies that have not yet reached the limit continue to apply.
