“Flash mission”: what solutions to avoid a summer under high tension in the emergency room?

The conclusions of the "flash mission" on emergencies ordered by Emmanuel Macron from François Braun, president of Samu-Urgences de France, were delivered to Matignon on Thursday afternoon.

Forty-one proposals to overcome a "high risk" summer in the emergency services.

What are the main recommendations?

In this report, submitted to the arbitration of the Head of Government Élisabeth Borne, there is first of all an increase in salaries for the liberal doctors responsible for regulating calls to the Samu: 100 euros gross per hour tax-exempt, and bonuses for night shifts during the bridges of July 14 and August 15.

But that's not all, François Braun also offers to streamline admissions through targeted triage at reception and a systematic medical filter via the Samu telephone switchboard.

The report also suggests limiting access in places to vital emergencies, especially at night.

"Murderers by Proxy"

But the recommendations of Dr. Braun are not unanimous.

"It's DIY which increases the workload in the Samu and which puts patients in danger", assures Christophe Prudhomme, spokesperson for the association of emergency doctors in France.

"We have to move on to something other than simple cosmetic measures, some of which are just a rehash of what we have been offered for many years and which does not work", he asserts at the microphone of Europe 1. "I consider Mr. Braun and his friends, who wrote this report, and the politicians who commissioned them to be murderers by proxy."

The measures adopted by the Prime Minister will be unveiled on Friday or Monday, and this will be one of the very first projects of the Minister of Health, Brigitte Bourguignon being forced to resign after her failure in the legislative elections.

Currently, 120 emergency services, in particular those of the CHUs of Bordeaux, Grenoble and Toulouse, are forced to restrict their activity, i.e. 20% of emergencies in France.
