A wolf attacked a herd of goats in an alpine pasture in Novel (Haute-Savoie) this Sunday.
The attack did not go unnoticed since it occurred very close to the terrace where around twenty people were seated, including the mayor of the town.

The wolf burst into the middle of the cattle and grabbed an animal by the throat.
The goat tried to escape but was caught by the predator who took her behind some trees.
The wolf was put to flight by several witnesses, including the shepherd who owned the herd.
The goat did not survive
The goat, seriously injured, had to be euthanized.
An authorization to kill the wolf would have been issued following this attack, which was not the first in the area.
Neither the shepherd nor the local wolf hunter, however, wanted to communicate on the subject.
