Nearly 5,000 additional Seine-et-Marne secondary school students should benefit from CantiNéo from the start of the next school year, the departmental council recently decided.
In September 2022, this boost for school catering should benefit 13,712 middle school students out of a total of 49,345 half-board students, indicates Le Parisien.
A capped price per meal
According to the department's website, the scheme allows low-income families to benefit from aid of between 1 euro and 2.21 euros per meal taken in the canteen depending on the family quotient.
The department clarified that the price of the meal will not exceed 4.38 euros, even if its actual cost reaches 10 euros.
The extension of CantiNéo was obtained by adding a slice of family quotient allowing a better progressiveness of the taking into account of household income.
The new category will increase the program budget by 500,000 euros, bringing it to 2.5 million euros.
The additional cost should be partly financed by the funds not used by the families.
