The Hayamiura Dam, located upstream of the Yoshino River in Kochi Prefecture, is a dam that can store up to 173 million cubic meters of water used for household water supply, agriculture, industry, etc. It is positioned as a "water tank in Shikoku", such as supplying it.

Since the beginning of this year, the amount of rain around the Hayamiura Dam has continued to be much lower than normal, and the water storage rate is 34.9% as of midnight on the 28th, which is more than 50 points lower than normal.

Although Kagawa Prefecture has not had a significant impact on the lives of citizens so far, there are secondary water intake restrictions that reduce the amount of water supplied from dams by 35%.

The council formed by the national government and the four prefectures of Shikoku intends to impose a third water intake restriction that reduces the amount of water supply by 50% when the water storage rate drops to about 30%. It is expected that the standard will be reached on the 2nd of next month.

If the third water intake restriction was implemented, it would be the first time in nine years since August 2013, and the last time there was an impact such as poor water supply even in ordinary households.

The Kagawa Prefectural Wide Area Water Services Corporation wants to save about 50 liters of water per household per day when the third water intake restriction is implemented.

The corporate group has already distributed about 300,000 leaflets created for households by inserting newspapers, etc., and if the third water intake is restricted,

▽ Close the main tap to weaken the momentum of water.

We are calling for further water conservation, such as

voluntary decompression,

▽ reuse of the remaining hot water in the bath for washing, and ▽ reduction of shower time.
