• Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Disney+ mini-series, ended after its sixth episode.

  • The story had to answer questions from Star Wars fans about the 19-year period between episodes III and IV of the saga.

  • Finally, the series answers a few questions but asks at least as many.

It was the most anticipated mini-series of recent months:

Obi-Wan Kenobi

, broadcast since May 27 on Disney +, centered on the character of the Jedi, tells what happened to Obi-Wan during his 19 years of exile on Tatooine, between Episode III (

Revenge of the Sith

) and IV (

A New Hope

).

A way to fill the time ellipse of the original saga.

After the success of

The Mandalorian

and the semi-flop of

The Book of Boba Fett

, the series was eagerly awaited.

For six episodes, the miniseries explored the intricacies of Obi-Wan "Ben" Kenobi's character, his surprise encounter with young Princess Leia, and young Luke Skywalker.

As for the iconic villains, Darth Vader is very present in the saga, and particularly in this last episode, which stages a fierce fight between the two protagonists, lightsaber atmosphere and dramatic music.

It is also the return of Qui-Gon Jinn, master of Obi-Wan, played by Liam Neeson.

What do we find in this episode 6?

(SPOILER WARNING)

If you do not want to be disclosed from the last episode, we advise you to skip this part.

Because the final episode of

Obi-Wan Kenobi

is centered around the confrontation between the hero and Darth Vader, a fight that takes on the appearance of mourning for the Jedi, who feels responsible for Anakin's passage to the dark side.

In this last episode, Darth Vader drops a terrible sentence: “It is not you who killed Anakin Skywalker.

It's me ".

A scene that aroused the emotion of Internet users, after Obi-Wan was shown with tears in his eyes.

This last episode is also an opportunity to see the progress of the inquisitor Reva in pursuit of young Luke.

The one who was presented as a villain at the start of the season reveals a more sentimental and compassionate side than expected: a former padawan having joined the ranks of the Empire, we see her making an unexpected redemption when she decides to spare Luke, including that she was walking down the same dark path as Darth Vader.

However, as the episode ends, we do not know the rest of her destiny: what will become of Reva?

Obi-Wan

should a priori only have one season, will the character disappear into the abyss?

Many questions following the final episode

Because the final episode of the mini-series gave rise to questions:

Obi-Wan

was created to fill a ten-year narrative ellipse, and all the plots are not resolved.

Far from it… Among the questions that come back in force, many fans wondered why Obi-Wan had not killed Darth Vader when he (still) had the means.

If this path seemed impossible (unless rewriting the entire

Star Wars

saga ), the presence of combat (as impressive as it is) without the possibility / eventuality of the death of one of the protagonists sounds like a screenplay grain of sand.

We can also wonder why Darth Vader stopped looking for Obi-Wan after their last fight?

Or why didn't he find it (it's not rocket science, frankly)?

If these six episodes make it possible to make the link between the Obi-Wan of episode III and the old sage of episode IV (in particular thanks to the appearance of Qui-Gon Jinn and the development of the characters of Owen and Beru) , Darth Vader remains a mystery.

Another unanswered question: did young Princess Leia see Obi-Wan again before

A New Hope

?

“Will I see you again someday?

asked the little girl at the end of episode 6. "One day you might need a tired old man again," Obi-Wan replied.

If the two protagonists meet again in episode IV of the saga, one can wonder if they could have met again in the meantime.

A final episode that saves an imperfect series

Many have criticized the start of the Obi-Wan Kenobi

miniseries , citing a

Disney

reel saga

created more for fan service.

The last episode seems to raise the esteem of the spectators, impressed by the final fight and the special effects.

Until then, many viewers had complained about the series' slow pace, lack of stage direction, and easy writing.

It could be that in addition to weaving links between the original trilogy and the prelogy (and therefore between generations of fans),

Obi-Wan Kenobi will

serve Disney to introduce the next series,

Andor

, centered on the beginnings of the resistance.

With perhaps characters crossed among the Le Passage network.

The best episode of the series (easy), not perfect as usual but a lot of emotions, the great master Obi-Wan who is back and a good finale

The real is too disappointing, incredible choreographies for shots that are too random #ObiWanKenobi pic.twitter.com/C80rgHFpCX

The day after the broadcast of the last episode, a question remains:

Will

Obi-Wan Kenobi be entitled to a season 2?

In the American press, the president of

Lucasfilm Ltd

Kathleen Kennedy explained that if

Obi-Wan

was conceived as a limited mini-series, "if there is a huge enthusiasm for the program and the public wants to see other

Obi-Wan

episodes

, so we'll take that into consideration because we're listening to the fans."

Nothing is certain, but the (Milky) Way remains open.
