It was in 2014 that Swedish Radio procured a new text system from the multinational company Dalet that would improve the editorial work.

In connection with this, foreign IT personnel were placed in the premises of the radio house in Stockholm and inside the so-called shell protection that protects unauthorized persons from entering the radio house.

The staff, who came from different countries, including Russia and Israel, were not tested for safety before starting work.

For over a year, they had access cards, free access to the radio's premises and SR's local network.

Had worked for regime-loyal Russian media

According to Dagens Nyheter's revelation, one of the foreign IT technicians had previously worked for regime-loyal Russian media as the state-controlled television channel RT, which is part of the Kremlin's psychological warfare.

According to DN, the man should not have acted improperly.

SR's CEO Cilla Benkö regrets the information about the foreign IT staff and believes that the security issue never came up on her desk.

- I have no idea what they had access to, more than that they did not have access to what I thought was most important that we protect, says Cilla Benkö to DN.

According to internal communication that DN took part in, Dalet could not deliver the product it promised and in 2016 the project was closed down.
