She said that every time a piece of cargo was successfully delivered to the wharf, it was the proudest moment as a crew member; it was the happiest moment to see the finless porpoise accompany the ship in the Yangtze River.

  [Commentary] "Without the contribution of seafarers, half of the world's people will starve and the other half will be frozen." Ai Ben, an ocean-going captain who has been in the industry for 20 years, has always kept in mind the words of the International Maritime Organization to describe seafarers.

Ai Ben said that in the next step, he hopes to train more young people to join the crew.

  [Explanation] According to reports, since the epidemic improved in May this year, the number of ships sailing on the Yangtze River has gradually increased, and the transportation of key materials has been guaranteed to be safe and smooth, and the Yangtze River shipping has shown a good development trend of stable recovery.

On the day of the event, the Yangtze River Maritime Safety Administration also released the "2021 Annual Report on the Development of River Crew in the Yangtze River Area".

  Up to now, there are 735,000 registered inland seafarers in the Yangtze River area, accounting for 75.2% of the national total. In the first half of the year, 15,000 inland seafarers were newly added, accounting for 67.2% of the national new seafarers. The composition of seafarers is in a closed-loop state. Demand is generally strong.

  [Explanation] It is reported that in 2021, the cargo throughput of the ports along the Yangtze River will exceed 3.5 billion tons, a year-on-year increase of more than 6% and a record high.
