One hundred years ago, in 1922, the Irish Civil War began... In one year, it claimed between 2,000 and 4,000 victims and ended in 1923 with the defeat of the nationalists who had to resign themselves to the partition of the Irish. island ratified by the Treaty of London.

A treaty signed 3 years earlier, in 1921, at the end of a war of independence marked by attacks and punch operations by the IRA, the Irish Republican army, which will force England to make concessions.

The Anglo-Irish Treaty then formalizes the creation of a Free State of Ireland, a member of the Commonwealth whose Parliament must swear allegiance to the British crown.

The United Kingdom keeps the 6 counties of Northern Ireland.

The nationalist camp is divided between pro and anti-treaty... civil war breaks out... What role did the Women's Council - "Cumann na mBan" in Gaelic - play in the shadow of the IRA, throughout of the fight for the reunification of Ireland?
