Zhang Muye, Deputy Chief of the Anti-Narcotics Brigade of the Public Security Bureau of Jinghong City, Yunnan Province, has gone deep into the drug-trafficking network for many times during his nine years as an anti-drug police officer to conduct disguised investigations.

In the past 9 years, Zhang Muye personally provided clues to solve more than 200 drug cases, participated in the detection of 301 cases, arrested more than 200 criminal suspects, seized more than 1 ton of various drugs, and confiscated 3.44 million yuan of drug funds.

He has successively won the personal second-class merit 1 time, the third-class merit 2 times, and the personal award 3 times, and has won many honorary titles such as the public security system investigation and solving expert for many times.

  Become an undercover drug cop

The complexity and danger of anti-narcotics make the anti-drug police become hermits among the police, not only for self-protection, but also for investigation in disguise when their work requires them, and become "undercover".

For the undercover narcotics police, the change is all-round.

The first step Zhang Muye had to pass was to change his image and temperament.

Reporter: Many police officers have acquired the police temperament through so many years of training, but the anti-drug police have to be trained to let go of the police temperament. This process is quite complicated.

Zhang Muye: Yes, because I also studied in the police academy in front of me, and I trained myself to be upright. As soon as I came out, I knew I was a policeman.

But after the anti-drug era, it was the other way around.

  danger is around

During the years when Zhang Muye went undercover alone, he once encountered a critical moment when he was identified by drug dealers and a shootout occurred.

Anti-drug means walking on the edge of life and death. On November 4, 2016, the anti-drug brigade of Jinghong City Public Security Bureau cracked a huge armed drug trafficking case in Jingha Township, Jinghong City. During the arrest, the drug dealer shot and resisted arrest. Zhang Muye's master , Li Jingzhong, deputy leader of the anti-drug brigade, was shot in the neck, and died heroically due to his serious injuries.

Zhang Muye: I watched him fall to the ground with his own eyes. At that time, the ground was stained red with blood.

At that time, I swore to myself that I would definitely bring these drug traffickers to justice.

Zhang Muye: It's been nine years.

To sum up myself, I owe a lot to my family.

Many times I don't take my family members to public places, including children going to the square playground to play, I won't take them out.

Sometimes I am worried when I go out for a walk by myself. After walking five paces, I have to look back to see if someone is following me.

Detecting a large transnational armed drug trafficking case

In 2019, Zhang Muye got an important clue that a drug trafficking group wanted to release a batch of hundreds of kilograms worth of drugs worth over one million. After analysis and judgment, Zhang Muye reported the clue to the leader of the anti-drug brigade, and the brigade leader asked him to continue to follow him. Enter.

After gaining the trust of the middleman, the boss behind the scenes proposed to meet Zhang Muye alone. This meeting is the key to whether the two sides deal with drugs.

Zhang Muye: It's not that simple for you to meet these big guys.

Later, after agreeing on the meeting place, they first searched my body to see if I had brought anything, and I was not allowed to bring any phone or cell phone.

After making sure I had nothing on me, he took me around on a motorcycle.

First they passed through the villages on the border, then walked through the woods on the mountain, and after a few laps, they found that it was safe and no one was following them, and finally they took me to that place.

I waited there for about ten minutes, and then a pickup truck came, which drove directly in front of me, and three or four people got out of the car, all with pistols hanging from their waists.

Zhang Muye, who has been injured and witnessed sacrifice, passed the meeting with the boss smoothly, which means that the detection of the case is 80% sure.

However, what Zhang Muye didn't expect was that the choice of drug dealing locations went through many iterations.

Zhang Muye: Because they also want a safe place for them, and we also want a safe place for us, the two sides continue to engage in tug-of-war.

There are also many cases that fail because the location cannot be negotiated.

But the location was also negotiated four or five times, and they asked me to pick it up on the border line. The border line was all those woods, all those mountains. It was very beneficial to them, but for us, that place was also Too dangerous.

At the scene of this extraordinarily large transnational armed drug trafficking case, the anti-drug brigade seized more than 100 kilograms of drugs. This case is the largest crystal methamphetamine case ever cracked by the Jinghong Public Security Bureau.

Reporter: How long did it take you to go undercover and finally close the Internet?

Zhang Muye: It should be about four or five months.

Reporter: When the case is actually closed, does it mean that the task has been completed and that my state can be buffered for a period of recuperation?

Zhang Muye: Although this case has finally been completed, as long as the drugs continue, my work will never be completed.
