1500 users benefited from its rich content in both Arabic and English

Dubai Culture's digital library... a wealth of knowledge at the touch of a button

The book borrowing service, which was expanded by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) through its digital library, enabled about 1,500 users to access a wealth of reading materials available in the library's rich database from last March to May.

As part of its endeavor to facilitate access to knowledge, and to allow the beneficiaries of library services, whether students, researchers or readers, to access other knowledge sources around the world in their various fields of interest, the authority expanded last March the book borrowing service in Dubai public libraries, in cooperation with With Overdrive, to make its knowledge materials available in several forms, including electronic, audio and video clips.

According to Dubai Culture’s statistics, its digital library attracted between March and May 1,500 users, who benefited from its rich content in both Arabic and English, and the number of borrowings during that period reached 462 for knowledge materials, the topics of which varied between literary, entertainment, professional and academic books, and continuing education books.

The authority called on all readers from all segments of society to participate in the membership of the public library, and to benefit from this knowledge infrastructure available for reading and creativity.

The comprehensive digital knowledge platform currently provides 3,788 books, distributed between e-books, audio and video clips, all of which are available to members of Dubai public libraries electronically, and at the touch of a button, through the website, the public libraries application, and the “Liby” application, and they are accessed through simple steps.

Members can reserve five knowledge materials during a single seven-day period for e-books and audiobooks, and five days for videos.

It is noteworthy that "Dubai Culture" manages the network of branches of the Dubai Public Library, which includes eight libraries for adults and seven for children, in addition to the digital library, providing community members with sources of knowledge in light of distinguished services and advanced technologies.

The library branches are linked to each other, and to other modern libraries, through the latest connectivity and networking technologies.

The Dubai Culture initiative aims to facilitate access to knowledge.
