In the presidential election, two people, Executive Director Yoshiro Matsumoto and Vice Chairman Kenji Matsubara, ran for the election, and 376 representatives including representatives of the prefectural medical association voted.



As a result, Mr. Matsumoto was elected as the new chairman with 310 votes and Mr. Matsubara with 64 votes.



Mr. Matsumoto is 67 years old from Tokyo.



He is the chairman of a medical corporation that operates dermatology and plastic surgery clinics in Saitama City, and has served as a permanent director for three consecutive terms since 2016, six years ago.



Regarding this election, Toshio Nakagawa, the incumbent chairman, initially expressed his willingness to run, but abandoned the candidacy and expressed his intention to resign because it was necessary to avoid the division of the entire organization.



Mr. Matsumoto, who was elected, stated his determination, "The current environment surrounding medical care and medical associations in Japan is extremely harsh. I would like to work with the cooperation of local medical associations to tackle difficult situations."
