In a tragic incident documented in a video clip, an Indian groom killed his friend during a wedding party and in front of the guests, as he accidentally shot him.

The video clip shows the groom, Manish Madishya, receiving a gun while standing on a stage, but he accidentally shot his friend Babolal Yadev, 35, who was in the crowd, at a party in Robertsganj, northern India, on Wednesday.

Madisha had tried to shoot in the air but failed, he lowered his arm and the bullet fired towards the audience, misfortune Yadev, who fell to the ground while the guests tried to help him, but died on arrival at the hospital.

According to "Sky News Arabia", the dead man, Yadev, was a soldier in the Indian army, and he traveled to attend his friend's wedding after obtaining permission.

The police arrested the groom and detained others for questioning, and confiscated the licensed pistol, which turned out to be the victim's property, according to the British newspaper, "Daily Mail".

And this isn't the first time weddings in India have ended in a tragic way due to ceremonial shooting rituals. In 2019, a groom was killed and his brother was left fighting for his life in hospital, after their friend accidentally fired 3 bullets.

Wedding shootings in India are a ceremonial ritual to show status, money and power.
