The Ile-de-France Regional Health Agency (ARS) reported on Saturday a first confirmed case of monkeypox in a child attending primary school in the region, specifying that he was taken care of and "does not present no sign of seriousness. Measures have been taken with National Education and a message has been sent to the parents of the children in contact".

In a press release relayed on social networks, the ARS indicates that its teams and those of Public Health France "immediately began the investigations in order to trace the chain of contacts of the child as quickly as possible".
330 confirmed cases in France
"A probable case has been identified within the same siblings. Measures have been taken with National Education and a message has been sent to the parents of children who are contacts at risk from the school attended by the child", the latter in particular having to monitor the appearance of symptoms (fever, rash), adds the ARS.

Until then, the virus had only affected adults.
The latest report from Public Health France, established on Thursday at 2 p.m., reported 330 confirmed cases of infection in France.
A disease that can be cured in two to three weeks
Monkeypox, an outbreak in some 40 countries, begins with high fever and quickly develops into a skin rash.
The disease, hitherto contained in a dozen African countries, usually heals spontaneously after two to three weeks.
