Three women who have fled Ukraine, where the military invasion by Russia continues, and are living in evacuation in Okinawa visit the fierce battlefield of the Battle of Okinawa on "Okinawa Memorial Day" to mourn the dead and peace without war. I wished for a world of peace.

Catalina Shevchenko (18) from eastern Ukraine, and Sophia Gruchuk (20) and Yana Schmak (21) from the west will join Naha City, one of the fierce battlefields of the Battle of Okinawa on the 23rd. I visited the hill "Sugar Loaf" in the new downtown area of Ukraine.

Like their own country, the three offered flowers to mourn those who died in battle.

We also observed a karate performance in Naha City to pray for peace on "Okinawa Memorial Day" and prayed that the battle in Ukraine would end as soon as possible.

"The horrifying things that happened during the Battle of Okinawa are happening in Ukraine, and the world hasn't learned anything from history," said Yana.

Sophia said, "Today I prayed for those who died in the Battle of Okinawa, and also for those who died in Ukraine."

"War is very scary, especially children shouldn't experience it. May it be peaceful," she said.
