The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has compiled the financial results for the second year of Reiwa, which is the "National Health Insurance" operated by prefectures and municipalities and subscribed to by self-employed people.



According to this, the number of members of the National Health Insurance decreased by 410,000 from the previous year to 26.19 million.



As a result, premium income decreased by 55 billion yen from the previous year to 2,541.7 billion yen, falling below the previous year for the seventh consecutive year.



On the other hand, insurance benefit expenses decreased by 338.1 billion yen from the previous fiscal year to 8,397.1 billion yen due to the effects of refraining from receiving medical examinations due to the spread of the new corona infection.



As a result, the overall real income and expenditure, including expenditures from the national government, prefectures, and municipalities, improved by 299.3 billion yen from the previous fiscal year to a surplus of 205.4 billion yen.



It is the first time in two years that the actual balance has been in the black.
