Faced with a shortage of midwives, the Saint-Côte polyclinic, in Compiègne (Oise), has decided to close its maternity hospital from August 1 to 22.

According to

Le Parisien

, about 70 pregnant patients were to be received in this private establishment during this period.

According to our colleagues, 25% of the workforce is currently vacant in the maternity ward, which is struggling to recruit.

According to its director, five positions are missing in this service which carries out between 80 and 100 deliveries per month.

Patients redirected to the public hospital

In question ?

Maternity leave, the suspension of staff not vaccinated against Covid-19 or even vacations, now concentrated over three weeks for all midwives in the service.

Pregnant women who were to join the maternity ward will be redirected to the hospitals closest to their homes, such as the Compiègne-Noyon hospital center (CHCN), which manages around 1,400 births per year.

For its part, the ARS ensures that it works in close collaboration with the heads of the various structures in order to find solutions and avoid any potential tension.
