The organizers of the International Film Festival in Transylvania, which runs from June 17 to 26, opposed the expression of hatred towards filmmakers because of their nationality.

Earlier, they included in the main program the film of the Russian director Lado Kvatania "Execution", which was criticized by directors from Ukraine - Oleg Sentsov and Dmitry Sukholitky-Sobchuk.

The film of the last "Pamfir" was also included in the program of the show.

Filmmakers said that art does not exist outside of politics, and the festival only creates the illusion of cultural reconciliation.

“Our common task is to make sure that the Ukrainian spirit is fully felt at our festival.

At the same time, as representatives of the international film community have already noted, it is important not to show hatred towards people based on their nationality,” the festival organizers said.

In addition to Kvatania's film, the film by Kirill Serebrennikov "Petrovs in the flu" will be shown at the festival - it was included in the "Supernova" section.

Pictures of Russian production will also be presented at the Munich International Film Festival, which opened on June 23.

Its organizers emphasized that, while compiling the program of the show, they focused on Ukrainian cinema, but they did not refuse to show "significant modern Russian films" either.

Two paintings by Kirill Serebrennikov were selected for the program at once - "Petrovs in the Flu" and "Tchaikovsky's Wife".

Both were in the main competitive programs of the Cannes Film Festival in 2021 and 2022 and competed for the Palme d'Or.

In addition, Natasha Merkulova and Alexei Chupov's tape Captain Volkonogov fled, previously presented in Venice, will be shown in Munich.

Meanwhile, a week of Russian cinema has been held in Brazil since June 23.

This year it is organized both online and offline.

Sao Paulo will show such films by Russian filmmakers as “One Breath” by Elena Khazanova, “First Snow” by Natalia Konchalovskaya, “I Want to Get Married” by Sonya Karpunina.

Cinema as a Prayer” about the famous film director.

Earlier, three Russian musicians were excluded from the list of participants in the Rodolfo Lipitzer International Violin Competition in Italy.

The organizers also removed works by Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Shostakovich and Glazunov from the program of the event, explaining that they adhere to the European regulation and follow the example of other international competitions in various fields.

In response, the Italian orchestra FVG, which has accompanied the performances of the contestants for several years, has withdrawn from this year's event.

The team called the decision of the organizers unfair, emphasizing that one should not be oppressed for the place of birth.

At the same time, the mayor of Gorizia, Rodolfo Ziberna, expressed his support for the excluded musicians and invited them to perform at a concert for a wider audience.

The official also condemned the decision of the organizers to abandon the music of Russian composers, calling it insanity.

The Gorizian authorities also invited members of the association Lipizer, the organizers of the competition, to a meeting to reconsider their decision, but they did not show up.

Rodolfo Gziberna said that the association thus "distracted itself" from the events of Gorizia in 2025, when the city becomes the European Capital of Culture.

The boycott by Western organizations also affected other Russian cultural figures, including Anna Netrebko.

Some Western organizations stopped cooperating with it.

However, in May she returned to the big European stage, performing at the Paris Philharmonic and the stage of the La Scala theater in Milan, which openly spoke out against Russophobia.

Its manager, Dominik Meyer, said that the opera Boris Godunov, with the participation of Russian singer Ildar Abdrazakov, will open the new season.

More than 100 people later took part in the “Say No to the Cancellation of Culture” action in Milan.

The action was supported by Italian singer Al Bano and actor Pippo Franco.
