China News Service, Huzhou, June 22 (Shi Zinan, Lu Yiping talks about Yang Su) On the 22nd, in the police dog training base of the Public Security Bureau of Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, the anti-drug dog "Zai Zai" was conducting drug search training under the guidance of trainer Ding Yulan.

Shuttling through various field obstacles and placed cabinets, "Zai Zai" searched for drugs from corners and crevices over and over again, standing up and sniffing, lying on his back and sniffing back and forth.

Suddenly, "Zai Zai" lay quietly on the ground, staring intently at a suitcase.

Ding Yulan stepped forward to open the suitcase, and a box with drugs appeared in front of her.

8 suitcases, and in less than 1 minute, the hidden drugs were searched by this brown and white springer spaniel.

"'Zai Zai' started training with me when she was 4 months old and is now 8 years old." For Ding Yulan, "Zai Zai" has become her closest comrade-in-arms.

Ding Yulan bluntly said that training a drug dog is more difficult for women, and few people can persevere. "But 'Zai Zai' has brought me a lot of happiness, and it is the driving force for my work. Watching it gradually grow and charge on the front line. , I feel that my work is very meaningful.”

Ding Yulan introduced that as a drug detection dog, it must have a prominent desire to grab and play, focus, high and long-lasting excitement, a strong desire to search for items, a keen sense of smell, perfect vision and hearing, and courage.

During the training, Ding Yulan will deliberately hide the items with the smell of drugs or take them far away.

Every time "Zai Zai" successfully found drugs, he would get Ding Yulan's encouragement, sometimes it was a toy, sometimes it was a "small stove" such as a meal of spare ribs.

"Becoming a drug-hunting dog is not something that can be achieved overnight. It requires long-term training and assessment, and only with outstanding performance can you engage in drug-hunting work." Ding Yulan said.

In June 2017, "Zai Zai" was assigned to assist in the investigation of a very serious drug case.

After arriving at the scene, it searched the suspected vehicle and locked the drug hiding point in just a few seconds, which provided great help for the detection of the case.

In March 2018, Ding Yulan and "Zai Zai" temporarily received a task: a vehicle suspected of transporting drugs was stopped, but because the vehicle was driving in a closed manner for a long time, coupled with the concealment of the suspect's hiding, the drugs could not be found for a while .

"Zai Zai" sniffed along the wheels, the hood, and the door, and finally stopped.

According to "Zai Zai"'s determined demeanor, Ding Yulan is sure that the drugs are hidden in it.

Subsequently, 1 kilogram of methamphetamine was searched out, and all the stolen goods were recovered.

"The life expectancy of a normal dog is about 15 years, but the average life span of a drug detection dog is shorter than that of other working dogs. Participating in drug detection work is very harmful to the dog's body. When 'Zai Zai' was selected as a drug detection dog, from the moment, It means that it can no longer live as carefree as other dogs." Ding Yulan said.

Drug control is a war without gunpowder.

In this war, countless anti-drug dogs like "Zai Zai" fought on the front lines, fighting wits and courage with criminals.

"They have undergone rigorous training, guarding the peace of society, and dedicating their lives to great causes. In my heart, they are heroic warriors and 'silent' heroes." Ding Yulan said.
