Maks Levin was 40 years old and an experienced freelance journalist who often worked with the Ukrainian news site LB.ua and the news agency Reuters.

At the time of his death, he was working to cover the war on the ground in Ukraine.

Reporters Without Borders has been in the woods outside the village of Moshchun where the bodies of Max Levin and his friend Oleksiy Chernyshov were found.

At the site, they found a camp site with leftover food, plates, glasses and cutlery.

- There are many indications that they have had a camp and kept Maks and his comrade imprisoned there, says Erik Halkjaer who is chairman of Reportar utan borders Swedish department.

"Rarely do we have such concrete evidence"

At the scene, they have also found several empty sleeves and their friend's ID documents.

The wreckage of Maks Levin's car was also on the scene and had 14 bullet holes in it.

The bullet that probably killed Maks Levin has also been found.

Reporters Without Borders report describes the findings, presents photos, testimonies and material evidence.

- We often receive reports in war that journalists were killed when they came in the line of fire, bombings or snipers.

But we rarely get such concrete evidence that soldiers deprived a journalist of his liberty, held him captive and executed him in cold blood, says Erik Halkjaer.
