Koji Nagakubo (42), whose address and occupation are unknown, took a female employee in her twenties as a hostage at a private room booth at an internet cafe in Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture on the night of the 21st, and said that she had been standing up for about 5 hours on the 22nd. He was arrested on suspicion of imprisonment.

According to investigators, the suspect had just been released in April after having a hostage-holding case at a credit union in Aichi prefecture 10 years ago.



"I was sick of my life. I thought I could go back to jail if I had an incident. I wanted to be sentenced to death or life imprisonment," he said in a police investigation.



Also, according to investigators, the store's security cameras showed a suspect with a utility knife walking down the hallway and breaking into a private room where employees were cleaning.
