Video of fish swimming in the streets.. the residents are preparing with fishing nets

The Indian state of Assam has been hit by devastating floods caused by the incessant rains, with eight people missing, raising the death toll to 63.

Meanwhile, a video has gone viral on Twitter and WhatsApp, in which it is claimed that fish have been spotted swimming in flood waters in Guwahati.

Here is the viral video passed on as 'fish swimming on the road in Guwahati' in recent Assam floods:

However, many Twitter users were quick to debunk the fake video, saying that it is not from Guwahati, India, but rather from China.

The same video was shared a few days earlier in a Chinese tweet that read: "In Guangdong, rainstorms are continuing, and fish are swimming in the streets."

However, as news spread that apparently large fish were swimming on the roads, locals took to the streets of the Indian state of Assam with fishing nets.

A video clip published by Indian newspapers went viral for locals laying nets on the flooded National Highway 31 in the Murangana fishing district.

In this video no fish can be seen swimming on the road in that area either.
