The JR Tadami Line, which connects Aizu-Wakamatsu City in Fukushima Prefecture and Uonuma City in Niigata Prefecture, runs in the early summer when it is reflected in a paddy field filled with water.

It is a popular local railway that runs in beautiful scenery every season, but due to the damage caused by the bridge and railroad tracks being washed away by the 2011 "Niigata / Fukushima heavy rain", 27 kilometers out of the total length of 135 kilometers are closed. I did.

Temporary discontinuation of the line was also discussed, but locals strongly requested that the entire line be reopened in order to retain the "symbol of tourism", and restoration work was carried out from 2018, and it was almost completed.

We are planning to resume operation on all lines from October this year.

Fukushima Prefecture and 17 local municipalities will bear the annual maintenance cost of about 300 million yen for the tracks and station buildings in the restoration section.

Whether it can lead to the revitalization of the local economy, we have future issues.

The season when the mountains are surrounded by fresh greenery.

We photographed the scenery along the railway line and interviewed people who were interested in the local railways recovering from the disaster.
