Dmitry Gluchovsky has written the best-selling "Metro 2033", which takes place in the Moscow metro after a war.

A dystopia that now resembles reality, he says when Kulturnyheterna reaches him.

- At least three of my books have become more realistic in recent months.

Many sent pictures to me on social media;

of people hiding in the tunnels and at metro stations in Kharkiv and Kyiv.

It was very similar to what I have described in the Metro books.

The Metro trilogy has been translated into nearly forty languages and has also become a series of successful video games.

Now the author is wanted in his home country Russia.

- They went home to my distant relatives and said they wanted to discuss with me.

But then I had already been wanted for several weeks.

Then they made the accusations public.

- I was accused because of a post on Instagram where I say: Stop this war, admit that it is a full-scale war in Ukraine.

That is why I am being hunted, as well as for the chronicles and articles I have written for the Russian and international media, where I place the blame for the war on Putin.

"Would never abdicate"

Dmitry Gluchovsky is currently outside Russia, but kindly declined to say where, as his status has not yet been decided.

The problems with the Russian authorities started already a year ago, when he expressed support for the opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

This led to the filming of "Metro 2033" being stopped.

The film, which had been planned for several years, but was postponed due to the pandemic, was a major investment that was also financed with state support.

- My name was blacklisted and they said that I had to resign to the president if I wanted the film to get rid of.

I would never do such a thing because of a movie.

Hell either.
