[Explanation] Blindness, let the world fall into darkness; music, let them touch the light.

When others sighed their fate and sadness, a group of visually impaired children from the Yangfan Wind Orchestra of Chongqing Special Education Center played a passionate song with their hearts, bringing people upward, kindness, and forward strength.

On the afternoon of June 16, the reporter came to the Chongqing Special Education Center in Nanshan, Chongqing. As soon as he stepped into the campus, he was deeply attracted by the melodious music from the classroom.

It turned out that the school's Yangfan Wind Ensemble was rehearsing the piece "Shandandan Blossoming Red and Bright" in the part-part.

This is a new piece they rehearsed after their performance at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Paralympics.

On the evening of March 4, 2022, the Yangfan Wind Band of Chongqing Special Education Center boarded the stage of the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Paralympic Games and played the International Paralympic Committee's song "Future Hymn", which moved the world.

Although it has been more than three months since the amazing performance of the Winter Paralympics, Tian Xiuyun, who is the flutist of the wind band, still feels like a dream when talking about the experience at that time.

From joining to the present, it is to go to the stage of the Winter Paralympics, which I have never dared to imagine.

I would never have dreamed that one day I would be able to walk on such a big stage and let people and people all over the world see us.

[Commentary] At first, Tian Xiuyun's performance in the wind ensemble was not outstanding, but she firmly believed that diligence can make up for her weakness. Every time she heard a good song, she tried to play it on the flute.

Gradually, everyone was pleasantly surprised to find that this little girl who dared not speak loudly could play more and more songs, and the timbre became more and more beautiful.

The distress and low self-esteem brought by her blindness gradually faded away, and her confidence and cheerfulness slowly returned.

Music is the eyes of our visually impaired children, and maybe more, we need to perceive the beauty of the world through music, and it brings us happiness.

Maybe one day there will be no music in our world, or in our life, that is to say, if we don't learn this instrument, our life may be colorless.

[Explanation] For the children of the wind orchestra, music is the light that dispels the darkness in their hearts, and the person who lights this light is Li Longmei, the principal of the Chongqing Special Education Center and the head of the Yangfan Wind Orchestra.

One day in October 2010, Li Longmei took her children to enjoy a symphony concert in the Chongqing People's Auditorium. On the way back to school, the children sighed at the beauty of music, which moved her deeply.

After returning to school, she decided to form a campus wind ensemble.

Since its establishment 11 years ago, the Yangfan Wind Orchestra has performed on the stage of the National Centre for the Performing Arts, the Beijing Concert Hall, and the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Paralympics.

Li Longmei was gratified by the impressive achievements made by the wind ensemble.

This vision of our children at the beginning, we have all harvested on this road of sailing in 11 years.

We saw that our children in Yangfan (wind band) became more confident than before. Most importantly, the band gave them a deep understanding of what it means to stand up and walk forward to be a useful person to society.

[Explanation] Li Longmei believes that education is the only way to change the fate of these physically handicapped children, and music can enlighten people's wisdom.

Therefore, she hopes that through music-specific education, children can gain happiness and self-confidence, so that they can enjoy high-quality education.

Our efforts are to enable all disabled children, after 12 years of education, to have a sound personality, independent thinking ability, to be able to distinguish right from wrong, to have a correct world outlook, and to have their own goals and ideals in life.
