Supreme Court's first decision in a class action of evacuees without recognizing national responsibility due to the nuclear accident

In four class proceedings in which people evacuated to various places due to the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station sought damages from the government and TEPCO, the Supreme Court ruled that the government did not accept responsibility.

This is the first time that the Supreme Court has given a unified judgment on the national liability of the nuclear accident, and it is expected to affect similar proceedings filed all over the country.
