Lunch with Warren Buffett for $13 Million

A person bid more than $13.1 million in an online auction to win a private final lunch with billionaire American businessman Warren Buffett for a charity that helps the poor, the homeless and people suffering from drug abuse.

The bid, which stood at $13,141,314 as of 4pm EST, significantly exceeded the previous record of $4.57 million paid by cryptocurrency investor Justin Sun at a similar auction in 2019.

This year's auction on eBay will end at 10:30 p.m. EST.

Proceeds from the auction will go to Glide, a San Francisco nonprofit that provides meals, shelter, HIV and hepatitis C testing, job training and programs for children.

Prior to that, Warren Buffett, Berkshire Hathaway's president and CEO, helped Glide raise $34.1 million through auctions to lunch with him.

The auctions started in 2000 and there was no auction in either 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Buffett also pledged to donate nearly all of his fortune.

And according to Forbes magazine, his fortune was estimated today, Friday, at about $ 93.4 billion, meaning that he is the seventh richest person in the world.
