The Emperor and his wife saw a special exhibition held at the National Archives of Japan in line with the 50th anniversary of Okinawa's return to the mainland.

After 5 pm on the 17th, the Emperor and Mrs. Sato visited the National Archives of Japan in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, and saw an exhibition of the diary and official documents of former Prime Minister Eisaku Sato, who worked on the return of Okinawa.



The Emperor emeritus looked at the materials of the International Ocean Expo held in 1975 when he visited Okinawa for the first time, and said with a memorable statement, "You have become the honorary president of this exposition."



Also, after seeing the exhibition, Empress Emerita said, "I hope many people, especially young people, can see it."



Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress are also visiting this special exhibition on the 14th of this month.



The special exhibition is open until the 19th.
