5 years in prison waiting for an Egyptian young man who sang and danced in the mosque!

The Egyptian police are making intensive efforts to arrest a young man who sang and danced inside a mosque. If convicted, he is awaiting a sentence of up to five years in prison.


The incident began when tweets circulated a video of a young man singing "festivals" and dancing to the tunes of their music on the loudspeaker inside a mosque, which provoked great discontent among the Egyptians.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian Public Prosecution ordered the arrest of the accused young man, and it was found that the incident occurred inside a mosque in Qalyubia governorate, north of Cairo.

The Public Prosecution said that the Monitoring and Analysis Unit of the Attorney General’s Office “observed the circulation of a clip of a young man singing and showing off with a microphone inside a mosque, and coincided with the receipt of a report from the Criminal Investigation Department of the General Administration of Information Technology at the Ministry of Interior, where the accused’s account was monitored on the Tik Tok website and his data was identified, and issued Quickly order him to be seized and brought in."

Lawmen confirmed to "Sky News Arabia" that the accusation that the accused will be charged is "deliberate contempt for religions and attacks on places of worship."

The Egyptian lawyer, Shaaban Saeed, said that the accused will be investigated on charges of insulting the Islamic religion and violating a place of worship, a charge that carries a severe punishment in the Egyptian Penal Code.


 The lawyer at the Egyptian Court of Cassation, Mohamed Islah, agreed with him, noting that the penalty is up to five years in prison.

It should be noted that Article 98, paragraph (f) of the Egyptian Penal Code stipulates that “A penalty of imprisonment for a period of not less than 6 months and not exceeding 5 years, or a fine of not less than 500 pounds and not exceeding 1,000 pounds, shall be imposed on whoever exploits the debt in promoting by words or By writing or by any other means, extremist ideas with the intent of provoking sedition, humiliating or contemptuous of one of the heavenly religions or sects belonging to it, or harming national unity.

Article 160 of the same law stipulates that “a penalty of imprisonment and a fine of no less than 100 pounds and not more than 500 pounds, or one of these two penalties, shall be imposed on anyone who disrupts the performance of the rituals of a religion or a religious celebration of its own, or disrupts it with violence or threats, and anyone who sabotages or Breaking, damaging or desecrating buildings prepared for the establishment of religious rites, symbols, or other things that are sacred to members of a creed or group of people, whoever violates or desecrates the sanctity of graves or cemeteries.
