To prevent crimes such as molestation, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government plans to install security cameras on all vehicles on railway lines and other routes operated by the city by March 2025, three years later.

Since fiscal 2015, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has installed security cameras for each vehicle in line with updates on railway lines and other routes operated by the city.

Of the routes operated by Tokyo so far, the Asakusa Line and Arakawa Line have security cameras installed on all vehicles, while the Oedo Line and Nippori-Toneri Liner are only about 20%. There is a difference in the installation status.

The city has decided to install a security camera ahead of schedule without waiting for the vehicle to be updated due to the fact that the damage caused by molestation is still occurring one after another and the slashing incident that occurred on the line of another railway company.

The capital wants to complete the installation on all vehicles of the Toei Subway Mita Line, Shinjuku Line, Oedo Line and Nippori-Toneri Liner by March 2025, three years later.

In addition, we would like to improve the deterrent effect and prevent crimes by putting stickers on the inside of the car and notifying them on SNS etc. that a security camera is installed.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation said, "We would like to strive to ensure the safety and security of our customers by accelerating the installation. Currently, there is a concern that it will be difficult to secure cameras due to the global shortage of semiconductors used as part of parts. However, we will strive to secure the required number and aim for completion. "
