• Coronavirus This is how Health justifies postponing the anti-Covid booster dose of those over 80 to autumn

The Minister of Health,

Carolina Darias

, has announced that there will be a fourth dose of the

Covid

vaccine "for the entire population".

The Public Health Commission approved this Monday that there would only be a fourth dose for the most vulnerable, the population over 80 years of age.

Darias has made the announcement on the Al Rojo Vivo program, although he has not specified when that fourth vaccine will arrive.

Darias has assured that they could be in the fall, because by that date the arrival of

new vaccines adapted to the variants

is expected , "as is the case in the contracts that the Government of Spain has signed through the European Union with pharmaceutical companies" .

Carolina Darias

, Minister of Health, already announced during her appearance at the Congressional Health Commission last week that "experts believe, and the Public Health Commission too, that, although it will be necessary to administer a second booster dose, and everything indicates that yes, the most appropriate time should be established according to the epidemiological situation,

and it is highly likely that it will be later with the arrival of new vaccines adapted to variants

".

Following this statement,

Spain becomes one of the few EU countries that is not immunizing its elders

, as has been recommended since April by the European Medicines Agency and the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control ( ECDC).

Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Croatia and Slovenia also follow in the Spanish footsteps.
