A plant that causes severe burns and sores to a British girl

A "dangerous plant" caused strange burns to a student in a British school after the girl touched the plant.

Hardy Mill Primary School released a picture it said of a four-year-old girl who was severely burned after coming into contact with a giant pig weed in a Manchester park.

The school said in a statement: "We regret the occurrence of such an incident, which ended with the admission of one of our students to the hospital with second-degree burns."

"It would be useful to show your children what this plant looks like so that they can avoid contact with it," the statement added.

This plant, whose spread increases with high temperatures, causes skin irritation, as its toxins seep into the depth of cells, knowing that it contains toxic organic chemical compounds called "furukumari".
