"Hime Hydrangea" raised by Tomitaro Makino, who is said to be the father of Japanese botany and is also the model of the main character of NHK's serial TV novel "Ranman" from next spring, is Tokyo Nerima, where his home was. It is in full bloom in the garden of the ward.

Hime Hydrangea was discovered by botanist Tomitaro Makino in a private house in Nagano prefecture, and was named after the graceful blue flowers that bloom.

The hydrangea that Makino raised at his home in Nerima Ward was raised for half a century in his hometown of Kochi Prefecture after his death. I went home to a corner of "Garden".

The "Hydrangea" that returned home began to bloom about a week ago, and now it is blooming dark blue flowers with a diameter of about 15 cm.
